The art of camp oven cooking is now as simple as cooking a barbecue. With nearly three decades of outback cooking experience guiding the way, author Jo Clews helps demystify all aspects of camp oven cooking. Whether you’re travelling around Australia, catering for large camps, or just looking for a different kind of barbecue, Australian Camp Oven cooking brings a tempting new twist to your outdoor cooking repertoire. Updated for the 2020s, Australian Camp Oven Cooking is packed full of easy and tempting recipes using basic readily-available ingredients. Impress the whole family with fresh damper, hearty stews, delectable desserts and classic roast dinners. This book not only provides a whole range of recipes, but also includes information about different types of camp oven cooking gear, advice on menu planning and hints on building the right type of cooking fire. There’s even tried-and-trusted advice on how to choose and care for your camp oven. Australian Camp Oven Cooking is an essential ingredient for every bush cook’s tuckerbox.

Raised in Margaret River, Jo Clews grew up in a family of devoted farmhouse-style cooks. She became a mother and then a shearer’s cook in short order and has had many adventures living and working in a variety of communities in Western Australia, including a stint as manager of the Karijini Eco Retreat. During that time Jo has always loved demonstrating and writing about her cooking: she has been holding regular classes for over two decades and has been an equally regular contributor to Western Australian 4WD magazine for nearly as long. Soon after writing Camp Oven Cooking in 2011, Jo released a lifelong dream by buying a rural property: Melangata Station.
