Hiking Maryland and Delaware explores sixty-two easy-to-follow, and easy-to-get-to hikes. Weaving the natural history and rich cultural history of two of our nation's oldest states, the author guides you through the rugged mountains, old-growth hardwood forests, salt-marsh wildlife preserves, and Piedmont stream valleys that attracted settlers to the region more than three centuries ago.
Terry Cummings has been hiking since he first climbed Mount Katahdin, the terminus of the Appalachian Trail, as a 10-year old back in 1961. For three years, he was employed as the National Trails Manager for the American Hiking Society. Mr. Cummings was also the Public Relations Manager for the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club where he was a regular contributor to the monthly PATC magazine. He has written stories for the Appalachian Trail Conference as well as for his current employer, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation located in Annapolis, Maryland, where he lives and raises bees.
