"A timeless tale about the wish for a friend. Antonino is a young artist who dreams of painting a masterpiece, an impossible dream he calls Friend. When he gets stuck, inspiration comes from an unexpected place. A dreamlike fable about the power of friendship and imagination, Antonino's Impossible Dream is a children's story told in timeless style by author Tim McGlen, with captivating illustrations by Sophia Touliatou. "
Tim McGlen writes to lift up people by pushing the boundaries of possibility. Inspired by encouragement from Mr. Wade and Mrs. Lynn, his third- and fourth-grade teachers at Parkland Elementary in western New York, he has studied literature and published stories through college and beyond. A former advertising copywriter, he directs an upper-elementary Montessori classroom in Florida, where much to his delight, his students thrive at creative writing, and where his sixth-graders read weekly with their kindergarten reading buddies. Greek-born and Athens based Sophia Touliatou has studied Graphic Design and works as an illustrator, doing mostly children books, many of which have gained merits and awards. You can find her work in Greece, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United States, and other countries around the world.
"McGlen's text is often poetic, suitably paired with Touliatou's brash, stylized, unconventional illustrations...A unique book about finding creativity in unlikely places, and the extraordinary power of friendship." --School Library Journal "This simple story of overcoming differences and finding a common bond will tap on readers' hearts just as Antonino's new friend taps her way into his life. Together, the two accomplish more than they could alone, and that may be, after all, the power of true friendship." --Rob Sanders, author of Pride: The Story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag "This inspiring tale of a creative child's struggle with frustration will encourage readers to open themselves to possibilities they may not at first see, feel, or hear, with wonderful, surprising, and amazing results! Proof that friendship is a masterpiece of possibilities!" --Lynne Marie, author of The Star in the Christmas Play
