Logic-Based Therapy & Consultation (LBTC) is a popular modality of philosophical counseling developed by philosopher Elliot D. Cohen and the first one to have undergone a randomized, controlled efficacy study. Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation: Theory and Applications brings together leading LBTC researchers, trainers, and practitioners to provide the latest account of its theory and apply it to diverse populations including persons with mental health issues, children, athletes, persons with drug and alcohol addictions, persons in a detention center, human services workers, and adolescents. Edited by Elliot D. Cohen, S Zinaich Jr., Himani Chaukar, and Florin Lobont, this collection shows how religious and philosophical traditions from East to West can be used with LBTC to inspire meaningful life change, tackle social issues such as civic conflict, and even attain romantic love. Spanning forty years of research and development, this book should interest instructors of philosophy, religion, psychotherapy, and related areas; social workers and human services/mental health providers; philosophical counselors and consultants; and anyone interested in learning about this versatile approach to coping constructively with problems of living.
Elliot D. Cohen is the creator of Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation, co-founder of the National Philosophical Counseling Association, and professor of clinical ethics at the Florida State University College of Medicine. S Zinaich Jr. is associate professor of philosophy in the Department of History, Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Purdue University Northwest. Himani Chaukar is associate professor and head of the department of Philosophy at Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, Mumbai. Florin Lobont is professor of philosophy at the West University of Timisoara.

This wonderful collection of essays clearly and decisively answers the cynical question: What's the use of philosophy? Written by an all-star cast of some of the most internationally prominent theorists and practitioners of LBT&C, the guiding virtue of this volume is its concern with helping millions of people who seek to improve their mental health. Highly recommended! -- James Stacey Taylor, The College of New Jersey Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation: Theory and Applications edited by Elliot D. Cohen, founder of Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation (LBTC), S Zinaich Jr., Himani Chaukar, and Florin Lobont is a groundbreaking anthology that illuminates the transformative power of logic-based approaches in therapy. Its pages offer not only a rich tapestry of theoretical foundations and practical techniques but also a roadmap for profound personal transformation. Representing a convergence of cutting-edge insights from diverse cultural backgrounds, this anthology offers a comprehensive exploration of LBTC. It also provides a rare opportunity for LBTC clients to confront their difficulties head-on, armed with a methodology that seamlessly integrates Western and Eastern philosophical theories. The insights found in this anthology are not confined to the therapist's office; rather, they extend into realms as varied as religion and social issues, reflecting the holistic nature of LBTC's applications. For practitioners and the wider public alike, Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation: Theory and Applications serves as an indispensable resource. -- Angelo Manassero, Philosophical Consultant, The National Philosophical Counseling Association
