Milly’s parents are divorced and she lives across two homes. Frequent changeovers are necessary and unavoidable. Milly likens her experiences of changeovers to being at an airport - a parent airport. Although Milly mostly experiences a smooth ride, each flight has the potential to involve a few jumps and shakes. After all frequent change can be hard!
Author: Rachel is an author and psychologist working with children, adolescents and their parents/carers who are in situations of family conflict, separation and divorce. She also has a keen interest in stepfamilies and in supporting parents, stepparents and co-parents working hard to make shared care arrangements work. With 20 years of experience supporting families through conflicts and transitions, Rachel’s expertise shines in her three picture books, ‘Max’s Divorce Earthquake’, ‘Harriet’s Expanding Heart’ and the soon to be released ‘Milly’s Parent Airport’. Committed to fostering emotional resilience, Rachel’s heartfelt stories are a guide for children navigating changing family structures. Originally from New Zealand, Rachel now lives in Sydney with her family, including her beloved pet schnauzer, Maxie. Her illustrations have been published in several children’s books. Angela creates contemporary images that are watercolour based and digitally finished.
