Translated by Wurundjeri Woi wurrung Elder, Aunty Gail Smith, Yingora Yingora Wayibu Durt: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a part of a series of classic children's books that translates well-loved nursery rhymes into the ancient Woi wurrung language of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people—a group indigenous to what is also known as the Yarra River Valley region. This book is an adaptation of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, the classic English lullaby deriving from early-19th century author Jane Taylor in her collection of poems, Rhymes for the Nursery, in 1806.
Sue Hodges Productions is one of Australia's leading heritage interpretation businesses that creates immersive and successful heritage products. Translator: Aunty Gail Smith is a Wurundjeri Woi wurrung Elder and a respected member of her community. She has translated the classic nursery rhymes with the help of Dr Stephen Morey and in collaboration with Sue Hodges Productions.
